Crufts, The World's Greatest Dog Show, Just Got Even Bigger

From the 8th – 11th March 2007, over 25,000 dogs from all over the globe will be travelling to the NEC in Birmingham to compete for the ultimate accolade of Best in Show at the world’s greatest dog show, Crufts.

Crufts, which is organised by the Kennel Club and in association with Pedigree, attracted 143,000 visitors over the four days of the show in 2006, easily keeping this annual extravaganza’s place in the Guinness Book of Records as the largest dog show in the world. Dogs representing thirty two countries competed resulting in a record number of overseas competitors, making Crufts a truly international event.

But watch out, Crufts 2007 is expected to be even bigger! Bursting at the seams of the NEC, the Arena will now be used to showcase a fantastic new dog display programme with seating for 6000 people, while Pavilion One will be used exclusively for Obedience competitions including the very exciting Obedience World Cup, where challengers from all over the world will be trying to take the cup away from England, the reigning champions!

Pavilion Two will be dedicated purely to catering and visitors will be able to enjoy a much larger Discover Dogs section in Halls 3/3a. Dog lovers and prospective owners will have the chance to meet and greet over 190 different breeds of potential pedigree partners providing much more to the visitor’s experience of the event.

Shoppers be warned! More room at the NEC also means that this year’s event will provide the ultimate shopping opportunity with approximately 500 trade stands offering everything that you and your canine could possibly wish for. It’s the perfect place to check out all the latest trends and toys for your two and four legged friends.

Said Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club Secretary: “Crufts means so much to so many, from the breed show competitors seeking the ultimate prize of Best in Show, to the fantastic dogs competing in activities such as Agility, Obedience, Flyball and Heelwork to Music. The Kennel Club hopes that by increasing the area of Crufts within the NEC the event will continue to be a truly enjoyable and unique experience for every visitor, celebrating the world of dogs and the great diversity that they offer.”

Caroline concluded: “It is important to the Kennel Club that Crufts acts as a showcase for the wide range of animal charities, organisations and individuals, who will be displaying the range of valuable skills that dogs possess which can help us in many different aspects of our daily lives. The finest show dogs in the world share space with those who provide invaluable assistance and support to their owners, and the event allows the Kennel Club the opportunity to promote dogs of all shapes, sizes and backgrounds.”

The Friends for Life competition will again be taking place on Sunday in the Arena before Best in Show where six stories of amazing companionship and life changing relationships will be highlighted between dog and owner. So make sure you don’t miss out on this year’s ultimate canine event and book your tickets now. For more information log on to: www.crufts.org.uk.
