Birmingham Airport Wins Gold at the CIPR Pride Awards

Birmingham International Airport is celebrating after its Corporate Affairs Team received a Gold award in the ‘Public Affairs/Lobbying’ category, at the Chartered Institute of Public Relations PRIDE Awards.

The award recognises the communication strategy implemented by the Airport, in the summer of 2005, to announce its new Draft Master Plan (which highlights development plans until 2030) to the local community.

The winning campaign ‘Towards 2030- BIA Launches new Draft Master Plan’ included; a touring exhibition with Airport specialists representing the main areas of concern such as property, environment and community relations, a series of public meetings giving residents the chance to communicate with the Airport’s Management team, and a breakdown of complex information into several more digestible publications such as FAQ document and an executive summary guide available to download from BIA’s website along with contact information.

John Morris, Head of Corporate Affairs at Birmingham International Airport, said:
“The Draft Master Plan was a complicated document with complex terminology and industry specifics. The Airport wanted to ensure members of the public were fully aware and completely understood the main elements of the plan, so we are delighted to win this industry-recognised award for our work in communicating the Draft Master Plan to the Airport’s local communities.”
