Successful start for the Christmas opening of Thomas Land™

Drayton Manor Theme Park, near Tamworth, Staffordshire, is celebrating a hugely successful start to its festive opening of Thomas Land.

Thousands of families have enjoyed a truly magical experience at the park’s newest attraction in the past two weeks, and Thomas Land will remain open until Sunday 4th January 2009 (excluding Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day) treating mums, dads and youngsters to a Christmas extravaganza.

Despite the disappointment some families have faced at other festive attractions, the transformed Thomas Land is sure to give families a festive feeling. Snow falling every hour sets the scene in Sodor where the Fat Controller meets and greets the young and young at heart and joins singers performing Christmas songs to the crowds.

In addition, families can also enjoy the spectacular new live stage show called Santa’s Magical Adventure, created especially for the festive season. During the performance, professional ice skaters and dancers entertain the audience as they follow a young girl who discovers the true meaning of Christmas.

The real star of the show is Santa himself, and the 30-minute show culminates in all children under the age of nine receiving a free gift from Santa.

Despite a busy year, Thomas the Tank Engine won’t be resting during the festive season. Visitors can take a ride on both him and Percy as well as enjoying the other themed rides in Thomas Land based on the well-known Thomas & Friends™ series.

If all this isn’t enough, Drayton Manor Zoo is also open during the festive period allowing visitors to see Santa’s reindeer as they prepare for a busy night on Christmas Eve.

Colin Bryan, Managing Director of Drayton Manor Theme Park, commented: “This is the first time we have opened during the festive season and it has so far proved to be a huge success.

“With so many things to do in one day, families can be guaranteed great value for money and can also rest assured that they will have a magical Christmas experience”.

The whole theme park will reopen for the 2009 season on Saturday 21st March 2009.
