New Business Development Manager at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry

The Ricoh Arena has added a second Business Development Manager to its conference and exhibition team.

Debbie Rogers will be travelling the length and breadth of the UK to entice organisers of conferences and exhibitions to host their events at the £113 million venue in Coventry.

“I’m not the sort of character to sit at my desk and wait for business to find me – this job is all about getting out into the market place and promoting the fantastic facilities that we have here,” said the 34-year-old, who will be working alongside fellow Business Development Manager Debbie Randle.

“The Ricoh Arena ticks all of the boxes for events organisers that many other venues in the UK can not match.

“From the 32,000 seater bowl, 6,000 sqm Jaguar Exhibition Hall, on-site hotel bedrooms and the largest casino in the UK, the facilities are second to none.

“With easy access from airports and great transport links, we are a powerful presence in the middle of the country – 75% of the UK population is a maximum of two hours away.

“This venue is definitely a leading competitor UK wide and without doubt it is a one-stop shop for the events industry.

“My prime aim will be targeting competitor venues and generally looking for opportunities throughout the whole of the business to sell conferences, exhibitions, corporate hospitality, hotel bedrooms and the casino.”

Wolverhampton-based Debbie has joined the Ricoh Arena as business development manager after holding an identical post at The International Centre, Telford.

She has also been a Senior Sales Negotiator at engineering companies in Cannock and Bilston.

“The events industry is a complete change for me, I love my job because one exhibition is never the same as another,” Debbie said. “The build up and break down of conferences and exhibitions tend to be the same but it is the genre of the people and the products on display that can often be quite different.

“One day I can be looking at beauty products and the latest must-haves and then the next day focusing on industrial machinery and corporate work wear.

“I am very excited about increasing awareness of the Ricoh Arena and adding a valued contribution to the conference and exhibitions bookings.”
