You Call the Tunes – Nominate your Favourite Classic
Have you ever wanted to have your say about the music the CBSO plays? The CBSO is planning a special concert offering Midlanders the chance to nominate and vote for the music they want to hear. However, time is running out as nominations close on Sunday 9 December 2007.
Nominations can be made in the following ways:
go online to www.cbso.co.uk/mytune *
send details of your nomination* to 'You Call The Tunes, CBSO Centre, Berkley Street, Birmingham, B1 2LF'
email details of your nomination* (with the subject line 'You Call The Tunes') to aambrose@cbso.co.uk
The most popular nominations will be voted on in the New Year and the most wanted will feature in a mouth-watering performance in Symphony Hall on Friday 7 March. The concert will be packed with a countdown of Midlanders' most-loved classical music, culminating in the Midlands’ Favourite Classic for 2008.
*Nominations should include the name of your favourite piece of orchestral music, and the composer's name as well, if you know it. The piece can be music you know and love from the concert hall or the radio, or an orchestral piece from adverts or films. Include your full name and postcode with your nomination (nominations are limited to one per person; and details will not be used for any other purposes than to verify this limit).
The small print - The CBSO may only be able to play one movement or sections of very long works. Concerto works will depend on the availability of appropriate soloists. Choral works cannot be nominated. Nominations should be classical works for orchestra.
