Opus Restaurant is delighted to announce that Suzanne Barnes Design Partnership has won the Interior Design BdI, Industry & Genius Award 2007 for her Opus design scheme.

Our brief to Suzanne was to transform the lower ground floor of a new office block into a contemporary, warm and chic restaurant with a flexible use of space. Her first decision was to position the bar in the centre of the restaurant under the dramatic atrium and then to devise five full height pivoting doors for the private dining area which offers complete flexibility; the doors can be kept open to the restaurant or closed for complete privacy. Suzanne’s use of a Siena red and pale olive green, gives warmth and compliments the brave interior and architectural elements.

We felt that this was a classic example of a designer listening intently to the operational needs of a client and interpreting them with imagination and flair.

The Industry & Genius Awards have been devised by Birmingham Design Initiative to promote outstanding design within Birmingham and the West Midlands.  The award recognises ‘teamwork and achievements of Birmingham-based designers working with manufacturers and other industry sectors located within the region’.
