BIRMINGHAM SINGS CHRISTMAS!

On 21st December, ITV Central invites you to join in a Christmas event being filmed for ITV1. The event is part of Britain Sings Christmas, a major programme being produced for ITV1. It will be hosted in London and broadcast simultaneously to big screens across the country. Birmingham’s big screen will be in Centenary Square, next to the ice rink.

The event will start at 4.30pm with a build-up show hosted by Ed James and Sarah-Jane Mee with a special performance from the X-Factor’s Nikki Evans. Central Tonight will be live from Centenary Square from 6pm. The recording of the network show will start from 6.30pm.

Britain Sings Christmas sees a celebrity choir perform in London the nation’s Top Ten favourite Christmas songs in an unmissable charity concert, to be broadcast on ITV1 on Saturday 22nd December, in aid of The Prince’s Trust.

Our Yuletide songs have been selected by a YouGov poll - from traditional hymns to contemporary hits.  Viewers will rank the top ten in order of preference, which will then be performed by our celebrity choir.

Kate Thornton will host the proceedings in London as we see the choir perform the specially arranged tracks, and lead the national sing-a-long of the ten Christmas anthems as we count down from number 10 to the nation’s Number One favourite Christmas song.

Our 20-strong choir in London, made up of famous faces from a variety of backgrounds, will be trained and led by the nation’s favourite TV vocal coaches – David and Carrie Grant.  Radio DJ Craig Doyle, actors Claire Goose and Jeremy Sheffield, TV presenter Gaby Roslin, comedian Jo Brand, pop stars Kelli Young of Liberty X and Blue’s Antony Costa, plus 80’s pop sensations Kim Wilde and Martin Fry have all volunteered their vocals as part of our twenty strong celebrity choir.  For this exclusive performance the choir will also be backed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

Britain Sings Christmas is a fully interactive entertainment event. As it unfolds on the 22nd December, viewers will be able to pay to download the tracks of the celebrity choir’s performances from ITV’s brand new ‘Click-2-Buy’ facility on ITV.Com. All profits from both downloads and telephone voting will go directly to The Prince’s Trust.

Britain Sings Christmas is a feel-good, family show that gets the nation singing its favourite songs at our favourite time of year – and raises cash for a fantastic cause at the same time.
