Heart Launches on Freeview
Chrysalis-owned Heart is further extending its listening footprint with its launch this week onto the Freeview platform.
Following a deal with ITV, Heart, will be available on Freeview Channel 728 from Friday 15th December.
Freeview is in 8.6 million homes across Britain and Heart's move onto the digital platform further strengthens the station's position as the UK's number one ILR brand.
Heart will also become the first ever regionalised radio channel on Freeview with listeners being able to access either 100.7 Heart fm in the West Midlands, Heart 106 in the East Midlands and Heart 106.2 in London.
Heart 106.2 will be available to listeners in London and across the UK except for the Midlands where 100.7 Heart fm and Heart 106 will be relayed across their existing FM footprints.
Barnaby Dawe, Managing Director of Heart said: "This innovation is yet another example of moving the Heart brand beyond traditional radio outlets to reach new audiences. An increasing number of people are listening to radio via their TVs and moving onto Freeview meets with our objective to make Heart as available as possible."
Paul Fairburn, Chrysalis Radio's Managing Director of Digital Platforms said: "We are pleased that ITV has found the capacity to give Heart a prized spot on the multiplex. Listeners don't care how they receive us, as long as it's easy. Freeview simply gives them another way of finding Heart.”
