Clothes Show Live Announces the Return of Dress Up Day 2006

Following last year’s hugely successful launch, Clothes Show Live 2006, in association with Nokia, has announced the return of Birmingham’s very own Dress Up Day on 1st December 2006. Dress Up Day will once again see Clothes Show Live, Marketing Birmingham, Bullring and The Mailbox join forces to celebrate and showcase the style credentials that the city of Birmingham has to offer.

On Friday 1st December – the first day of Clothes Show Live 2006 - Birmingham will be turning ‘dress down Friday’ on its head, as the people of Birmingham swap their casual outfits for the most stylish outfit in their wardrobe. Clothes Show Live will have style scouts on hand, searching Bullring and The Mailbox for the most cutting edge individuals, whisking the best dressed down to the opening day of Clothes Show Live to take to the catwalk, whilst gaining inspiration from an array of fashion experts, make up artists and designers in the Nokia Fashion Theatre. Thousands of visitors to Clothes Show Live will also be going glam for the opening day of the show.

Bringing even more glamour to the city on 1st December, Clothes Show Live are delighted to announce the collaboration of three top models to front this year’s show. Lisa Ratliffe, Hannah Shaw and Erin Fee are returning to the show where they were first scouted, having since launched hugely successful international modelling careers. Together the girls represent three generations of modelling success and will return to Birmingham on Friday to open the doors of the show where their modelling careers first began.

Also elevating the city’s style credential’s on 1st December will be the launch of a brand new show by the organisers behind the highly successful Clothes Show Live. The eve Style Show, also taking place at the NEC, will see an array of top style experts hit Birmingham in a bid to place the city firmly on the map as the UK’s newest fashion capital. Experts including Gok Wan (‘How to Look Good Naked’), Linda Barker (bringing style to Birmingham’s homes) and Jemma Kidd (make up artist to the stars) will all be there on 1st ‘dressing up’ to launch the biggest ‘Dress Up Day’ yet!

Gavin Brown, Head of Haymarket Exhibitions says:
“This is Clothes Show Live’s 15th year in Birmingham, and over the years, we’ve seen the city become a real trend-setting destination for fashion lovers, especially with the opening of Bullring and The Mailbox. We really wanted to do something which highlighted how cutting edge the city is and Dress Up Day is a really fun way to do this. With the city awash with style scouts I know that we will discover the cream of Birmingham’s most stylish people on 1st and look forward to seeing them all down at Clothes Show Live to enjoy a day packed full on fashion advise, catwalk shows, new designers and shopping!”

Dave Hodgson, Marketing Director, Marketing Birmingham says:
“We’re really proud that Clothes Show Live has returned year after year, as we think that Birmingham is a stylish city with great fashion and shopping credentials and a fitting choice to host the biggest consumer fashion show. We’re looking forward to getting ‘glammed up’ for Dress Up Friday and will be encouraging the rest of the city to wear something fabulous to mark the occasion.”
