Titchmarsh is coming to tea with the CBSO

One of the UK’s best-loved green-fingered personalities, Alan Titchmarsh, will be the special guest at a charity tea with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra on 21 December.

The gardener, novelist and all-round British gem will be in Birmingham hosting the CBSO’s Festive Favourites concerts at Symphony Hall (20-22 December). These popular Christmas concerts will be filled with plenty of sparkle as members of the Orchestra and CBSO choruses will set the hall alight with carols and festive classics alongside Alan’s heart-warming readings and stories from his very own seasonal anthology, Fill My Stocking.

The special seasonal afternoon tea will give individuals a chance to meet Alan alongside musicians from the CBSO. Radio 4 Producer Lucy Lunt will interview the man behind the personality and provide an intimate insight into his story. What’s more, proceeds from the tea will go directly to CBSO Ignite, the CBSO’s charity arm, which reaches more that 53,000 individuals each year regardless of age, background and musical ability - ensuring music is available to all.

Alan, a passionate CBSO supporter said: “I’m thrilled to be back in Birmingham to present the CBSO’s special Christmas concerts. This is my fourth time now performing with some of the most talented players in the country in front of a fantastic Midlands audience, who always give me a warm welcome.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing everyone at the afternoon tea. It’s a great event that will raise some well needed funds for the CBSO’s Ignite programme and, as someone whose own charity encourages children to get involved with the practical and creative skill of gardening, it’s wonderful that the CBSO are enriching people’s lives with music.”

This special, intimate charity tea with Alan Titchmarch takes place on Monday 21 December at 3pm. Tickets cost £28.75 and can be booked by calling Eve Smith: 0121 616 6533.
