ASHA’S INTERNATIONAL RESTAURANT UK MASTER FRANCHISE RIGHTS ACQUIRED

The world-renowned Asha Bhosle, the legendary Indian artiste who selected Birmingham as the home for her first UK based Indian restaurant and bar will be in Birmingham to sign a contract transferring the UK master franchise rights to Brandasia Holdings Limited, a company controlled by Paul Bassi and Pawan Kenth. She will be attending the official press conference at 2pm on Tuesday 24th November followed by the restaurants 3rd Birthday Party celebration’s at 7pm.

The top-rated Indian restaurant in the Michelin Guide 2009 for the West Midlands was acquired from Regent Inns who subsequently went into administration, by two of the region’s leading businessmen, Paul Bassi and Pawan Kenth, saving 30 jobs.  Brandasia have now secured the UK master franchise rights to the Dubai-based Asha's brand – founded by the famous Grammy nominated Indian singer star Asha Bhosle in 2002.  Interest to open franchises in London and Manchester have already been received with plans to open a further 10 franchise restaurants over the next five years.

Asha’s Birmingham restaurant was opened to critical acclaim two years ago following a £1.2 million pound fit out and recently hosted the cast of Slumdog Millionaire, as well as enjoying a loyal following of local celebrities, politicians, business people and professional footballers.

With sister restaurants in Dubai, Qatar, Bahrain, Abu Dhabi and Kuwait, others scheduled to open in New Delhi and New York, making Asha’s the only international Indian restaurant in Birmingham.  Asha’s has already been inundated with top awards including: Winner: Midlands Curry Awards 2009; Finalist: British Curry Awards 2009; Taste of Birmingham – Best Newcomers 2007; Best in Britain Award – Best Newcomers 2007; British Curry Award – Best Newcomers 2007 and finalist for 2008.

Asha Bhosle’s first love is singing, her life's love is cooking and she wants to share it with the world. All Asha’s chefs have been personally trained by Asha and recruited from India. Brandasia director’s, Mr Bassi, recently appointed President of the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce, is also Chairman of Bigwood Chartered Surveyors and Bond Wolfe Plc, and Chief Executive of REI plc, the quoted property investment company.  Mr Kenth is Managing Director of Corporatewear UK and former Entrepreneur of the Year.
