Christmas through the ages at Coventry Transport Museum

With the world's largest collection of British road transport and the chance to experience Christmas through the ages, Coventry Transport Museum is the place to go this December.

Whilst you rattle your bones on one of the earliest cycles and blow your mind with the force of the land speed record you can also discover how Christmas was celebrated in the 1970s, the Blitz and during Victorian times. With living history and special activities each weekend you'll be able to experience a different Christmas with entertainment, decorations and gifts from the period.

Over the 1970s Christmas weekend (29th & 30th November) meet a party-goer getting into the party spirit whilst the car factories are considering strike action. You can also join in with the special craft activity where you can make Rudolph heads!

Transport yourself back to a Blitz Christmas weekend (6th & 7th December) and meet the shopkeeper trying to stay in business following a bombing and discover what it was like celebrating Christmas during World War II. There will also be a brass to listen to and an old fashioned steam organ to keep you entertained. And if that is not enough you can make your own Christmas decorations from nut shells in true Blitz style.

Experience a Victorian Christmas (13th & 14th December) by visiting the traditional sweet shop and meet Father Christmas, who will be at the Museum between 10:30am and 4:30pm. Local school choirs will also be singing festive favourites during the day and there is the chance to make your own Victorian Christmas cards with icing.

For the final weekend before the festive period (20th & 21st December), come and enjoy Christmas through the ages, with tales of Christmas' past, the return of the steam organ and craft activities.

In addition to our festive events, there are loads of hands on activities and interactive exhibits in the Museum to keep everyone entertained, children and adults alike. Admission to the Museum is free but there will be a small charge for the craft activities.
