The BBC Asian Network Tour 2008
Continuing its commitment to providing our audience with the most varied and diverse programme of entertainment anywhere in the country, Warwick Students’ Union is proud to welcome back the authentic sound of Asian Britain to Coventry. On Friday 14th November, the BBC’s Asian Network Tour returns to the West Midlands boasting a roster of top-flight talent.
Through its esteemed roster of presenters and DJs, the Asian Network remains at the cutting-edge of the current UK Asian music scene, playing a wide range of genres from Bhangra and Bollywood to RnB and Hip-Hop. Every year, the Network gears up for its annual tour of the nation’s Universities boasting a line-up of some of the hottest acts around, and this year is no exception.
With 4 Top 20 hits and worldwide sales of 1.5 million for his debut album Storyteller under his belt, the sensational Raghav is no stranger to the limelight. Since splitting from his former label, he has assumed new management and been working on another sure-fire smash in the form of Identity, released on October 20th.
Joining him on the bill will be Bhangra singer/producer Juz’d, who delivers full-blooded Punjabi Desi Folk, together with London-based singer-songwriting collective Serese - a trio who are fast-establishing themselves as Asian music’s answer to the Sugababes with a sound that is best-described as straight-up pop merged with soul and swing.
On top of this there’ll be roof-raising beats from DJs Panjabi Hit Squad and Sonny Ji, ensuring that the party lasts long after the artists have left the stage.
