Visitors Flock to Birmingham for Style in the City
The Sunday Times Style in the City proved a run-away success last week, with over 10,000 fashionable shoppers visiting Birmingham during the three day event, an increase of 15% on the previous year.
Visitors were treated to a series of fashion and beauty events across the city centre, including the sell-out Style Masterklass Sessions at Bullring hosted by Myleene Klass, special in-store promotions at Harvey Nichols, House of Fraser, M&S and Selfridges, and style and beauty tips in The Oasis at The Pavilions.
TV personality Emma Willis hosted the Catwalk Shows at The Mailbox presenting Autumn/ Winter collections from Birmingham’s most stylish retailers, top designers and Birmingham City University’s fashion Graduates. The Catwalk Shows also marked the professional debut for the winners of Style Birmingham’s Model Search.
Almost 4,500 visitors packed the nine shows at Myleene’s Style MasterKlass at Bullring. Audiences were given the ultimate insight into accessorising the LBD, treated to an exclusive Q&A with stylist to the stars, Bradley Taylor, and wowed by the style make-over on nine local ladies from the region.

Hannah Oussedik, Show Manager for Style in the City said:
“We are delighted with the success and popularity of this event, particularly in the current climate, and believe it highlights just how fashion savvy Birmingham and its shoppers really are.
“We worked particularly closely with the city’s retailers this year, through Retail Birmingham, and this approach ensured that the event ran incredibly smoothly and highlighted the breadth of shopping that the city has to offer. Many of the retailers featured within the shows reported featured items selling out in store, so we know that it makes a difference to their bottom line too!”
Kevin Breese, General Manager of Harvey Nichols and Head of Marketing for Retail Birmingham said:
“Style in the City was a fantastic opportunity to showcase what a wonderful retail offer we have in Birmingham to so many people from outside the region and remind them just why we are one of the UK's best shopping destinations."
