Doctor Who stars at Kidderminster ‘Sci-Fi & Steam Family Fun Day’

Stars from the BBC’s ‘Doctor Who’ series will be mixing and mingling with visitors at the Severn Valley Railway’s new ‘Sci-Fi & Steam’ Family Fun Day, this coming Saturday, November 1st (10am - 4pm) at Kidderminster Town station.

Paul Marc Davis, the Futurekind Chieftan in ‘Utopia’, Matthew Chambers who plays Hal Korwin in the episode ‘42’ and Francois Pandolfo, who is Quintus in ‘The Fires of Pompeii’, will be signing autographs and joining in the fun as the SVR’s Kidderminster station becomes a rendezvous point for sci-fi monsters and costumed creations of film and fantasy, creating some excellent photographic and autographic opportunities for visitors.

With two fancy dress competitions (at 12 noon and 4pm), quizzes, merchandise stalls, plus Great Western Railway pannier tank No.7714 in steam at the platform, ‘Sci-Fi & Steam Fun Day’ will be the highlight of the month at the Severn Valley Railway’s southern terminus, which is without any trains for the next few weeks while track maintenance work proceeds on the A449 Worcester Road bridge. There’s a £5 admission fee to the event.

Until the end of November, Bewdley station serves as the railway’s southern terminus of steam trains for the 13-mile trip to and from Bridgnorth. The railway will ‘back to normal’ in time for Santa trains, which start running on Saturday December 6th.

Who’s who at the SVR ‘Sci-Fi & Steam Family Fun Day’

Paul Marc Davis… is no stranger to Sci-Fi and paranormal. Apart from his role in Doctor Who, he played Lord Draben, the Cavalier ghost in ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone’, and also starred as The Trickster in CBBCs ‘Sarah Jane Adventures’. Has also appeared in Eastenders.

Matthew Chambers… is probably better known to television viewers as Daniel is the BBC soap ‘Doctors’.

Francois Pandolfo… apart from his Doctor Who role, this Irish-Italian actor starred as Enrico in Eastenders.
