UK’s leading convention centre completes sales team with new appointment
The International Convention Centre, Birmingham, has completed its Conference Sales team with the appointment of a new Sales Director.
Karen Ward, who took up her role at the award-winning conference venue at the start of September, joined the centre from Hayley Conference Centres, specialising in rural, countryside locations.
Karen said: “I was approached for this job by an agent, and as soon as they said I would be working for the NEC Group, I knew I wanted it. Coming to The ICC has far exceeded my expectations, right from the interview process. The whole process has been so smooth and I felt welcomed to the team straight away. I thought that if this is how they look after their colleagues, imagine how they look after their clients.”
“So far I’ve had a fantastic insight into the different areas of the business. I believe I have got a lot to bring to the team, as this market is very different to the one that I’ve come from. Here, the targets and goals are set five years ahead, and everyone is focussing on the bigger picture.”
Karen will work directly under Richard Smith, ICC Head of Conference Sales. Richard said:
“Karen’s appointment allows me to focus on the strategic side of the business,looking towards our long-term goals and client relationships. This is a very exciting time for Karen to be joining us and I know that I can speak for the rest of the team when I wish her all the best at The ICC.”
Karen’s role with the company will now focus on maintaining existing relationships with national and international clients, as well as developing new accounts.
