SOUL LEGENDS RETURN TO THE JAM HOUSE

One of America's best-loved soul groups is returning by popular demand to Birmingham's leading live-music and dining venue next month.

The Stylistics, who had a remarkable 10 straight top-ten hits in the 1970s, are bringing their legendary showmanship, harmony and style to the Jam House in St Paul’s Square on Wednesday, November 14.

The Philadelphia-based band will be performing soul masterpieces such as Betcha By Golly Wow, You Are Everything, and You Make Me Feel Brand New from their back catalogue 'The Very Best of the Stylistics' which is being released by Universal Music TV on October 29.

Tickets, priced at £20, are available in advance from the Jam House by calling 0121 200 3030 or by clicking on www.thejamhouse.com.

Formed nearly 40 years ago, the legendary band still includes original members Herbie Murrell and Airrion Love, with Harold ‘Eban’ Brown and Van Fields both joining in 2000.

The Stylistics released their first album in1971 in collaboration with Thom Bell, creator of the “Philly Sound”, and their first single 'You're a Big Girl Now' became a top-ten hit the same year.

With the soaring falsetto voice of Russell Thompkins Jnr behind their uniquely smooth and sweet sounding ballads, they continued to make the top ten from 1971 to 1974, culminating in a Grammy Award nomination for 'You Make Me Feel Brand New'.

John Bunce, Jam House General Manager, said: "The Stylistics were a sensation when they first played the Jam House last year and we are delighted to have such a legendary band back for what should be another thrilling night of showmanship and soul.
