Birmingham Repertory Theatre is off to Neverland this Christmas with a brand new musical version of Peter Pan written by the award-winning duo George Stiles and Anthony Drewe and directed by The REP's artistic director, Rachel Kavanaugh.
J M Barrie's classic adventure has thrilled and delighted generations of theatregoers with its swashbuckling, flying and fantasy scenes. Join Wendy, John and Michael as they soar into the night sky with Peter, to a magical land of mermaids and fairies, where children can fly and adventures happen every day. But beware - danger is just around the corner: the dastardly captain Hook and his evil band of pirates are looking for a fight and Peter Pan is top of their list.
George Stiles and Anthony Drewe's previous musicals include Honk!, an adaptation of Andersen's The Ugly Duckling which won three Best Musical awards. More recently they co-wrote the new songs and additional music for the West End and Broadway hit Mary Poppins. They have also written the songs for the Barbican's 2007 pantomime, Jack and the Beanstalk.
Playing Peter Pan is Peter Caulfield and starring opposite him as the villainous Captain Hook is David Birrell. The cast also includes: Gay Soper (Storyteller), Julie-Alanah Brighten (Mrs Darling), Gina Beck (Wendy), Jeremy Legat (John), Connor Doyle / Thomas Goodall (Michael), Nikki Shaw (Tiger Lily), Thomas Aldridge (Tootles), Andrew Bowness (Lost Boy), Tim Edwards (Lost Boy), Craig Perry (Lost Boy), Simon Schofield (Lost Boy), Barnaby Thompson (Lost Boy), Gerard Carey (Smee), Greg Barnett (Cecco), Christopher Colley (Gentleman Starky), Andrew Hutchings (Pirate), George Daniel Long (Pirate) and Joe Speare (Mullins).
Peter Pan - A Musical Adventure will be brought to life by the accomplished team that created The REP's spectacular sell-out production of The Wizard of Oz in 2005 - Peter McKintosh (Designer), Paul Pyant (Lighting Designer), Stephen Ridley (Musical Director), Jenny Arnold (Choreographer) and Gregory Clarke (Sound Designer).
