15 years at The NIA

Birmingham’s National Indoor Arena celebrates its 15th anniversary this month - a remarkable landmark for Europe’s busiest indoor sporting and entertainment venue.

In excess of five million visitors have experienced the unique atmosphere of The NIA since its opening in October 1991.

It has become a constant feature in the international sporting calendar; providing a stage for the world’s elite competitors and a platform for rising stars.

And in 15 years it has hosted some truly spectacular entertainment events. From the Eurovision Song Contest to performances by Paul McCartney, Oasis and Russell Watson.

This month alone The NIA has already welcomed the undisputed queen of hip hop Missy Elliot and is looking forward to staging the fantastic Disney on Ice, European Indoor Athletics, and the wonderful Andrea Bocelli.

Guy Dunston, arena sales and events manager, NEC Group, said: "We want to thank all our visitors for sharing in our success. Here’s to the next 15 years."
