Flatpack Festival flies the flag for Birmingham at
international film festival
Flatpack Festival has been invited to present work as part of the 39th
International Film Festival Rotterdam, which takes place from
27 January to 7 February 2010.
The internationally renowned event brings together over 3,000 press
and film industry representatives from across the globe along with a
devoted audience in 24 venues across Rotterdam.
Flatpack Festival Directors Pip McKnight and Ian Francis were
approached to participate in the programme in recognition of the
innovation and experimentation shown in Flatpack’s programme.
Flatpack will be presenting work by The Paper Cinema at industry
event, Kino Climates, and will also be holding an evening of shorts and
performance at the Nova Cinema in Brussels, a venue designed to
provide alternative, unconventional and challenging cinematic
approaches, perfectly mirroring Flatpack’s ethos.
Ian said “This is a brilliant opportunity to compare notes with venues and
film programmers from all over Europe, and to spread the word about
Flatpack.”
The 2010 edition of Flatpack Festival launches on 23 March and runs to
28 March, with an eclectic line-up of screenings and events including
an exploration of puppets in classic and contemporary film; a special
exploration of the 1930s from cinema design to Birmingham’s literati,
and a rare opportunity to see the pioneering work of structuralist
filmmaker Takashi Ito. For more information visit:
