‘Ian Cook’ as artist in residence
The Heritage Motor Centre is delighted to announce that radical artist, Ian Cook, infamous for using radio controlled model cars in his artwork, will be its artist in residence during 2010. Using a variety of medias, incorporating unique processes, Ian creates bespoke artworks ranging from radio controlled paintings through to sculpture and printmaking.
Ian’s unique style of using paint on the tyres of remote control cars on canvas is sure to attract fans to his Popbang Colour studio located within the museum, home to the world's largest collection of British cars. Visitors will be able to watch Ian in action as he creates his unique artworks. Visitors will also be able to view a number of originals on display as well as being able to purchase prints.
Ian’s art has attracted considerable media attention in recent years. His artwork was recently featured on BBC’s Top Gear in December 2009 and on Blue Peter earlier last year.
Ian has a number of exciting plans in the pipeline during 2010. He will be working with Dunlop Tyres, his personal sponsor, at a number of events together. Dunlop have also been helping Ian design and build his studio at the HMC. Plans include attending the Autosport International Show with Dunlop from 14 - 17 January at the NEC where he will be creating a number of pieces. Ian has designed and created an original piece for the Make-A-Wish Foundation which will be auctioned off for charity at the Autosport International Show upon the Dunlop stand. As well as the original artwork, Ian is also making the piece into prints for people to buy after the show in order to raise further funds for the charity.

Museum entry is: Adult £9, Concession £8, Child (5-16), £7 Family, £28 (2 adults and up to 3 children).
