Paul Bassi has been awarded a CBE in the New Year's Honours List

Mr Bassi has been given the honour in recognition for his services to business and the community in the West Midlands.

 Mr Bassi is the current president of the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce and his previous roles include Regional Chairman for Coutts Bank (West Midlands). He is also Chairman of Bond Wolfe, Bigwood Chartered Surveyors, a Director of Birmingham Hippodrome, and Chief Executive of Real Estate Investors Plc.

In addition to his commercial interests. Mr Bassi is an active supporter of a number of charitable, cultural and community organisations. Mr Bassi is the current High Sheriff for the County of West Midlands (2009/2010) and was awarded an Honourary Doctorate from Birmingham City University. In 2003, Mr Bassi was awarded the Price Waterhouse Cooper Entrepreneur of the Year award. In 2005, he was the youngest ever recipient of the Lloyds TSB Life Time Achievement Award, and in 1999 he chaired the historic twinning of Sandwell and Amritsar. In 2007, he formed the Bond Wolfe Charitable Trust that raises funds for worthy local causes, regardless of caste, colour, creed, age, sex, religion or disability.

Mr Bassi said: "I am delighted to receive this Honour. This recognises the support have receivevd from my family, the efforts of all my colleagues and staff within the business and the various organisations that I have worked with. I have always strongly believed that business has a responsibility to its clients, staff and shareholders".
