Industry Survey Emphasises Importance of The NEC
The National Exhibition Centre has demonstrated its leading position in the UK exhibition industry by once again taking top spots in a key industry survey.
According to the annual AEO 100 survey, over the last twelve months the Birmingham-based venue has hosted the UK’s largest consumer and trade exhibitions, alongside the busiest trade event.
Spring Fair, which is staged at The NEC over five days, took top position as both the busiest and largest trade exhibition, attracting over 73,000 visitors.
Kathryn James, MD, The NEC, said:
“Results such as these are a testament to the consistently high standard of events that are attracted to The NEC. This venue has been a key player in the exhibition and live events industry – both in the UK and internationally – for 30 years and this survey indicates that in extremely competitive times we are still market leaders.
“To ensure our continued development and prosperity in increasingly uncertain times, it is vital that we not only maintain the standards that have been set and the expectations of our visitors, but continually strive to exceed them.
“It is through Destination NEC developments such as the Resorts World at The NEC leisure and entertainment complex that we will truly maximise the potential of our unique offering.”
Issued by the Association of Exhibition Organisers, the AEO 100 lists the top exhibitions held at venues across the UK, by both attendance and net stand space. Overall, The NEC secured 41 places in the top 100 ranked by attendance, and 42 ranked by net stand space.
