City Venue Voted One Of The UK’S Finest

The Old Library at Birmingham’s Custard Factory has been voted number 10 in a poll of the best event venues in the UK, finishing ahead of major competitors the O2 arena and nearby Warwick Castle.

The Event magazine poll received nominations for over 400 venues from 2,000 readers, but it was unique venues such as The Old Library which dominated the top 20.  Big-hitters, such as Earls Court and Birmingham’s own NEC, all finished outside of the top 10.

Situated in the heart of Digbeth and part of the popular Custard Factory complex, The Old Library was built in the 1850s and was one of only four free libraries in Birmingham.  Fully refurbished in 2001, The Old Library is now a modern, versatile and unique events venue for up to 300 people.

Nick Morgan, events director at Big Cat Group and co-owner of The Old Library, said: “We are really excited that The Old Library has been rated so highly by Event magazine readers.  I think our success is a reflection of the growing popularity of unique spaces – those which offer a more flexible and personal solution for events of all sizes.

“The Old Library was also the only venue outside London to make the top 10, so we are delighted to be flying the flag for events venues in the Midlands.”
