Harborne Hill Pupils Shoot With Netball Stars To Launch New Court
Birmingham born English netball international, Ama Agbeze, 24, will be helping school pupils at a Birmingham secondary school to shoot for the stars – by launching their brand new netball court.
Pupils and staff at Harborne Hill School in Birmingham will also be joined by England U-21 netball coach Collette Thomson to celebrate the opening of the new outdoor facility.
The netball court is part of an overall £500,000 New Opportunities Fund investment secured by the school that has led to the creation of a multi-use games area, including a tennis court, multi-sports space and improved changing areas.
To mark the launch of the court Harborne Hill school teams from each different year group will play games against teams from nearby Bishop Challoner Catholic School in Kings Heath.
The games will follow a question and answer session where pupils will be able to ask questions of England star Ama and U-21 coach Collette, about their experiences playing for and coaching for their country.
Delighted Harborne Hill head teacher Andrew Wright, said: “To have two members of the England netball team help launch our new court is a real honour, and will act as an inspiration to our female pupils to participate in sports both during and after school.
“We are looking at innovative ways to actively engage more girls into sports, so to have new facilities and even have netball games arranged on the official opening day will mean the day will not be forgotten for a long time.”
