Brindleyplace’s many bars and restaurants will also be helping to create a festival atmosphere in the city and there will be a loyalty discount card available to spectators for use in Brindleyplace’s 30 restaurants, bars, cafés and shops throughout the event.
Olivia Harris, Head of Marketing and Communications for Brindleyplace Estate Management said: “With the European Athletics Indoor Championships being staged just a few seconds walk from Brindleyplace it really made sense for us to be involved in this event. We will be helping to extend a warm welcome to everyone associated with the Championships such as VIPs, athletes and coaches as well as the thousands of spectators who will be visiting Birmingham for this event.”
Lorraine Mackay, Director of Marketing and Communications for the European Athletics Indoor Championships said: “Events like the European Athletics Indoor Championships are not just judged on the action inside the arena but also by the way in which organisers involve the host city and engage with local people.
“We are delighted that Brindleyplace will be the Official Entertainment Zone for this Championships and not only will they be helping us to provide a warm welcome for visitors to Birmingham but the Entertainment Zone will also be open to local people so that they can feel part of the Championships and make the most of the city’s staging of this prestigious event.”
The City Inn in Brindleyplace has also been selected as one of the official hotels for the Championships and Bank, also located in Brindleyplace, is the official media restaurant for the event and will be hosting a reception for media from across the continent on Thursday 1st March.
