December Passenger Figures Fuel Optimisim

Birmingham International Airport (BIA) handled 574,237 passengers during December, including 472,984 scheduled passengers and 101,253 charter passengers spread across the two passenger terminals; an increase of 1.7% over the previous year.

Managing Director Richard Heard commented: “December was another positive month for the Airport, with many passengers taking advantage of the fantastic ski destinations and the winter sun offers that Birmingham has to offer. BIA coped well with all of the typical British winter weather that was thrown at us and even helped neighbouring airports who could not operate in the foggy conditions, ensuring their passengers made it to their destinations. Birmingham is looking forward to a positive new year and with recent announcements on new routes and extra frequencies really is the Airport for the Midlands!”
