Supply Chain Opportunities

There will be thousands of opportunities available within the HS2 supply chain across many business sectors, requiring a wide range of capabilities and suitable for suppliers of all sizes over several years.

HS2 Ltd will directly procure and manage a relatively small number of high-value major works contracts which will be delivered directly by Tier One contractors. These contractors will procure and manage many smaller sub-contractors, engaging a much larger and more diverse range of smaller suppliers. These smaller sub-contract businesses need to understand the procurement processes and prepare themselves so they’re ready for when these business opportunities materialise.

HVM City is a regional platform that links to all Compete For opportunities but has been enhanced to provide regional businesses with access to many more regional and national opportunities.

The three West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) Growth Hubs – Greater Birmingham & Solihull; Black Country; and Coventry & Warwickshire – can help by providing a regional offer which comprises five key support products to ensure local businesses are in prime position to win HS2-related work. Contact your local Growth Hub for an initial conversation and to understand the landscape and opportunities.

The Growth Hubs can also support with opportunities from outlets like Transport for West Midlands, Midland Metro Alliance and UK Central. These opportunities are for businesses to be involved in the wider regeneration programme that is accompanying HS2.

Download the HS2 Supplier Guide and FAQs to find out what HS2 Ltd is buying and when; how they are engaging with the supply chain; where you can access these business opportunities; and the values HS2 Ltd want to see demonstrated throughout the supply chain procurement process.
