In addition, Birmingham City Council has secured more than £8 million in ERDF monies to support SMEs that want to improve and develop their land and property. This new grant programme aims to encourage the improvement and development of key vacant, derelict or underused properties and sites for economic use – supporting investment, growth and jobs. This work could include the creation of new buildings, extending existing commercial premises, internal works and demolitions, land clearance and reclamation that would lead to new commercial space.
Businesses have been invited to apply for this funding, which applies to buildings used for manufacturing, processing or as office space. The grant programme will operate in three areas of the city – Digbeth and the Jewellery Quarter, Tyseley, and East Birmingham Industrial Corridors.
