Operations & policy

Marketing Birmingham is a real team effort. Headed by Tim Manson, our Operations and Policy division ensures that the team runs smoothly, and develops new ideas and initiatives to power the visitor economy.

 

Operations and Policy is responsible for:

  • Administration
    Overseeing the day-to-day operations of Marketing Birmingham’s premises and facilities.
  • ICT
    Supporting our technology, networking and telephony.
  • Policy and Research
    The Policy and Research team is responsible for 3 key areas:

    Firstly, strategic business planning and policy for Marketing Birmingham. We also manage the tourism strategy for Birmingham in partnership with other businesses and organisations who have an interest in its success.

    Secondly, research.  The team supports the overall strategy of MB by monitoring the performance of the visitor economy and external perceptions of the city. All of our marketing campaigns are based on research commissioned or carried out by the team. Campaign evaluation is also undertaken which allows for a 360 review and analysis of performance.  All research is shared with members and partners to support the development of their business.  

    Thirdly, we help to improve the destination of Birmingham for our visitors and businesses. This may be through managing funding for projects or leading the projects themselves. Examples include the promotion of business tourism across the region, or implementing improvements in quality and accessibility throughout the city.

    Managing the city’s world class Visitor Centres

  • Managing our growth and development with recruitment and ongoing team development.
